“This Is A Miscarriage Of Justice”- Lydia Forson Wades Into Akuapem Poloo’s Conviction
Yesterday, the Accra Circuit Court convicted Akuapem Poloo on three counts after she pleaded guilty on posting a nude photo of herself and her son on social media couple of months ago during the son’s birthday.
She remanded into Police’s custody to undergo a pregnancy test before her sentence is pronounced on tomorrow, 15th April, 2021.
Most Ghanaians have since be reacting to the news of her conviction on social media with the hashtag #FreeAkuapemPoloo which is currently trending as number one on Twitter. Some top personalities like Sarkodie, Efya, Bridget Otoo, DKD, etc have all taken to social media to share their thoughts on the issue with Lydia Forson been the latest to join the conversation.
In a tweet on her official Twitter page, the ‘screen goddess’ said although she never like Akuapem Poloo or her personality, she still thinks her act is not something that she should be ‘jailed’ for since there are people who have actually caused ‘financial loss’ to the state but are still walking around freely because of who they know in ‘power’.
She added by encouraging this abuse of power, the nation is setting itself up for the same if not worse in some time to come, therefore describing the case as ‘a miscarriage of justice’.
You don’t have to like Akuapem Poloo or her antics, and trust me as someone who’s suffered because of the many hurtful accusations she’s leveled against me, I completely understand your reservations.
BUT this is a miscarriage of justice
It’s seems that depending on your class, financial status and your proximity to who’s in power you can get away with just about anything, while those who’re not so privileged will always be punished.
It’s why people who’ve caused financial loss to the state roam free and others are in prison for stealing a goat. By encouraging this abuse of power; you’re setting yourself up for the same if not worse when your time comes.
